The Longest Escalator Ride Ever

OK, still working a few weeks back here....  During Jenn's visit we took a trip up the world's longest escalator, which starts in the middle of the action on HK island and heads up to the hills and residential area.  It's not exactly as it sounds--it isn't one escalator, but rather a loooong series of many that are connected by landings.  It's hard to get a good picture of them when you're inside riding up.

Here you can see a portion of them with their arched roofs.

It's fun to see all the restaurants and shops in all the narrow side streets along way and get sneak peeks into residences.

Once we reached the top, which just ends kind of anti-climactly in a residential area, we meandered our way to the Hong Kong Botanical Garden and Zoo. It was a nice, lush walk away from the craziness of the city.

The zoo, while small, had monkeys, tortoises, toads and birds.  And really, if you have monkeys, that's all you need for entertainment.

The kids love a good fountain....
